 Amelia Graves, Undergraduate, USA

I am an undergraduate studying Biochemistry and pre-veterinary medicine at Montana State University. I am working alongside Brooklin Hunt and Caylee Falvo to establish a large hematological dataset from wild-caught black flying foxes (Pteropus alecto). This dataset will be analyzed to gain an understanding of fluctuations in bat physiology and immunology across space and time. We will also partner with other Bat OneHealth members to pair our data with additional physiological measurements to develop hematological biomarkers of bat health. Ultimately, my work will allow us to examine how ecological change may impact bat health in ways that could promote Hendra virus spillover.
