How are novel pathogens transmitted from one species to another and what can we do to prevent this from happening?

Our team of over 70 Bat OneHealth scientists is working across seven countries to ask one question: How are novel pathogens transmitted from one species to another and what can we do to prevent this from happening?

We focus on bat-borne pathogens, and use Hendra, Nipah, and coronaviruses as models to understand spillover. We have assembled experts to do this work from around the globe in places as far and as different as Ghana, Bangladesh, and Australia.

By engaging with one problem, bat-borne pathogens, we can focus our investigations on geographic hotspots, and build the exceptional database necessary to investigate the patterns and recommend sustainable interventions to stop the causes of spillover.
