Bat OneHealth publishes intensive review of bat coronaviruses
When early studies began to show that the progenitor of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) may have been a bat virus, we raced to contribute to the world’s knowledge of coronaviruses in bat populations. Our post-doctoral researcher Dr. Manuel Ruiz-Aravena led a large-scale review of the scientific literature surrounding coronaviruses in bats. Our graduate students Devin Jones, Maureen Kessler, Caylee Falvo, and Dan Crowley, as well as others from the Bat OneHealth consortium, made substantial contributions to this review. We are excited and proud to announce that this review has been accepted in Nature Reviews Microbiology and will soon be printed.
